Recommended ages: 11 - 16

Young people come to an open studio setting to learn and refine artistic skills with artists/instructor Paul Hoelscher. The idea behind this ongoing class is to help young people make art the way that most interests them, with an artist who believes that everyone is artistic and who has enough personal experience to be supportive of many media and techniques. Media include acrylic, oil, and watercolor paint, soft and oil pastels, charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, and clay sculpture. Come and create the sky is the limit!

Watercolor for Young Students Instructor: Becky Litke Date/Time: Saturday, March 14th, 10:00 am – noon Age Requirements: 8 and up Maximum # of students: 10 Course cost per series: Members $16 Non-members $24 Course Description: Students will learn the basics of watercolor painting. Each class will include instruction on composing a complete painting in watercolor. Each month will be a different subject to paint. All supplies will be provided which will include all paper, paint, brushes & subject reference. Children should be dressed in older clothing, (this could be messy at times). Class size is limited so sign up early.

Introduction to Italics Calligraphy Instructor: Ginger Rembold Date/Time: April 23rd , 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Age Requirements: 12 and up Minimum # of Students – 3 Maximum # of Students 12 Course Cost: $10 members/ $15 non-members Supplies: Bring your own Calligraphy pens – size 2.0 mm and 3.5 mm preferred. These can be purchased at Ryder Brothers in advance. $5 supply fee to cover handouts and practice papers. Course Description: This is a great introduction to Italics style Calligraphy. This will be an excellent continuation for those that have had instruction in other styles before as well as students new to the art of Calligraphy. Students will be lead through a series of exercises to help participants design and execute hand lettering to enhance cards, letters or home décor. Felt tip calligraphy pens are recommended over traditional ink pens. Participants are invited to bring a snack to share during a break time.

Creative Bookmaking Instructor: Ginger Rembold Date/Time: April 30th , 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm Age Requirements: 12 and up; 8-12 with a paid adult Minimum # of Students – 3 Maximum # of Students - 12 Course Cost: $10 members/ $15 non-members Supply fee: $5 to cover basic paper, scrap paper options, embellishments and ribbons. Supplies: Students are invited to bring scissors, glue sticks and favorite scrapbook/decorative papers and ribbons to match if desired. (Ribbon no wider than ½” and at least 1 yard long.) Course Description: This class will create three different small journal size books using origami techniques, envelopes, and scrap papers and cardboard. All different and unique! These make great memory books for a special occasion, birthday cards, quotation collections, mini photo albums, etc. Participants are invited to bring a snack to share if desired.

Advanced Beginner Ballet – Ages 8-12 years Instructor: Debbie Friedman Dates: Thursday, March 12 – April 16 Time: 4:15 – 5:15pm Age Requirements: 8 - 12 years (1-2 years previous training) Min #of students: 5 Max # of Students: 10 Supplies: Tights, leotard & ballet slippers Course cost: $48 for members/$72 for non-members (6 hours of instruction) This class will prepare dancers for more complex movements and some choreography but will still focus on correct placement and ballet technique. Strength, flexibility, fluidity and design/line components will all be included in this expression of the “inner ballerina”
