Art at the Crossroads
Regional Art Exhibit and Edible Art Competition

The 11th Annual ART AT THE CROSSROADS regional art exhibit will open on Friday, September 4, 2009. Tickets for the opening night reception are $5.00, which includes gourmet dessert and coffee.

Cash and ribbons will be awarded in all categories as well as Best of Show by our judge, Tom Dimond. A People’s Choice award will also be selected by those attending the opening reception. An Edible Art Competition will be held in conjunction with the art exhibit. Click here for information and an application form.

ENTRY CRITERIA

ART AT THE CROSSROADS is open to professional and amateur artists aged 18 and older. Each artist may submit a total of three Original pieces completed in the past two years and not previously shown in an Art at the Crossroads regional art exhibit. The entry fee is $15 for up to 3 works of art. Artists are encouraged to have their work for sale. A 30% commission goes to Crossroads Carnegie Art Center on all sales. Participating Artists will receive a complimentary ticket to the opening reception.

All paintings must be dry and appropriately presented, mounted or framed, ready to hang with screw eyes and wire attached. No sawtooth hangers will be accepted. Reproductions, works made from kits or under the supervision of an instructor are not eligible. The Art at the Crossroads committee reserves the right to refuse any artwork, which is inconsistent with the general quality of the exhibit. If there are more entries than space allows, it may be necessary to limit the number of works per artist shown. All reasonable care will be taken when handling artwork received, however, Crossroads Art Center is not responsible for any loss or damage to artwork.

Judge: Tom Dimond

We are pleased to have artist, Tom Dimond as our judge this year. He recently retired from 34 years of teaching at Eastern Oregon University where he concentrated on classes in jewelry design, ceramic and glass. He is now able to devote more time to his own work in his new “Hot Class Studio” high on Mt. Fanny in Cove, Oregon where he works in glass blowing, flame working and bead making as well as fused and slumped glass pieces. The views of landscapes and sunsets from his studio as well as his continued involvement with hunting and fishing activities keep him closely tied to the natural beauty of the region and are focal inspirations for him as an Eastern Oregon artist. Tom will be a featured Artist at Crossroads in October of 2009.
