I came to Baker City last summer and thought I would bring with me the two things I know best, dancing and photography. I’m a Chicago-New Yorker who has been dancing for the last 30 years. I tried Latin Dance during a very hard time in my life and really wrapped my arms around it. I feel very free and alive when I’m dancing these different styles of dance. I believe through the art of expression with your body you’re able to convey so much of who you are, or who you secretly wish to be. I promise with the dances/workouts, that you will feel alive and a “breath of fresh air” (so to speak) when it seems like there’s nothing good to look forward to.
The reason I say this is based on my personal client experience here in Baker City. So many people have really enjoyed the class and have said to me on many occasions that it was the best thing to come along in a long time. I also have heard that many people had never taken a class at Crossroads until this one.
I’m so pleased to give my students a piece of me and my background, and re-new a sense of self in so many.
I think the biggest win we have going for us/me is the no partner necessary classes. I don’t have a partner here and didn’t want women or men to feel uncomfortable or feel like they couldn’t come do this with me...that’s the best part. I teach you the basics and I partner up with you the fourth week so you do have some knowledge of how it works at a night club. I hope to keep inspiring the local community and LaGrande. Yes they’re driving from La Grande because they heard how much they love the workout and we have a lot of fun! I hope to see you there.
April 3rd-May 8th, Thursdays, for 6 weeks. $60/$55 members. 50-minute classes, and April 5th-May 10th, Saturdays, 10-11am, 6 weeks. $60/$55 members, 50-minute classes.
I also plan on doing the Workshop again that incorporates Contemporary, Jazz and Latin movement, a crazy workout that focuses on rhythm and movement, and connecting with music. The date of is April 11-May 2, from 4:00-4:50 PM.

Members Making a Difference
Linda Haynes, Dan Moore, Kellie Trone, Ben Titus & Crew
Moving out of our Main Street location into the Carnegie Library Building seemed a daunting task and it proved to be just that.
I grew more and more anxious thinking of how to move in the cold and icy winter months. How was I going to get rid of all this building had stored for some 20 odd years?
Linda Haynes, Crossroads Board Member, became my sanity. She spent many weekends helping me schlep garbage and plan for the move, even after foot surgery. Linda, you are amazing.
Dan Moore, also a Board Member, allowed us to move storage items into his basement at Elkhorn Title and spent a weekend helping. Thank you Dan for your thoughtfulness and help to me.
Crossroads member Ben Titus and his crew helped move essentials to the Carnegie and store not-so-essentials in Elkhorn Title’s basement.
Kellie Trone worked endlessly to orgaanize and pack. She spent countless hours on the move and came in to help with our yard sale.
I am so grateful to each and every one who helped with the move. The Pottery Committee, Ivy Nelson and her wonderful Crew, Nanci Sheppard, Ruth Boyd, EJ Weber, Dennis and Terri Axness, Debbie Friedman, Paul Hoelscher and children, and anyone else who spent their time helping out. Thank You .
Creating our own unique tools instead of purchasing them will allow your work to stay fresh and totally original

First Quarter Report
We are at a very exciting time in the history of Crossroads as we move into the Carnegie Library Building, providing Crossroads with a permanent home for the next 60 years. In conjunction with the move the Board of Directors has elected to call Crossroads, “Crossroads Carnegie Art Center”, our name for the foreseeable future. The Board is also working on a new logo that will identify Crossroads with its new location.
I would like to personally thank the construction committee for the many hours they have volunteered over the years, without which we would not be moving into the Carnegie facility. I would also like to thank Jeff Givens, Project Supervisor for Sid Johnson & Co., for taking extra care in preserving numerous historic details of the original building. Jeff saved doors, corner moldings and even after working all day on the project took each lock home to rework and make them functional. This is just an example of how Jeff added small details back into the project sometimes in a new capacity to preserve the buildings heritage, Again thank you, Jeff.
I hope you have made plans to attend one of the Carnegie Grand Opening Events to celebrate our new home. These events will be held throughout the month of April; for more information please contact Crossroads.
Joan Jacobs will be leaving the board to focus on her work with the Museum. She has been instrumental in redesigning Crossroads’ books, budgeting and finances. Terri Bell will take over her function as the Crossroads’ Treasurer.
Alyssa Peterson will be leaving Crossroads to pursue her art career and other interests. We sincerely appreciate her many contributions to Crossroads and offer our best wishes in her new endeavors.
Nancy Peyron has joined the Crossroads team as Interim Director. For the past month, she has been working as a volunteer, meeting with other community organizations to see how we can work together to get the most out of our programs. We are all looking forward to seeing what partnershipscome out of those meetings.
As we plan to move into the new facility we encourage everyone to participate in the new art center. Volunteers make the difference in meeting our goal to provide programs and facilities for the entire community. Join us in making “ART FOR EVERYONE” possible.
