Crossroads Volunteer Newsletter:
Changes & Improvements Coming for YOU!

August, 2007

New Process for Volunteer Contacts: Chaves Consulting, Inc. has volunteered to provide volunteer contact and scheduling services. We thank Suzi Cook for her gracious service in calling volunteers recently.

We need volunteers for the first 2 weeks of September. Volunteers are needed in the mornings, and on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons while First Friday’s event is set up.

How does this change affect you? You continue to call Crossroads, as always, to sign up for your volunteer work shift. Daily, the Chaves Consulting call center team will check for updates to volunteer shifts, and look for shifts that do not yet have a volunteer. Chaves Consulting’s OHP Call Center team will E-mail or call our volunteer list to ensure that a volunteer is available to keep the doors open, make sales of our artists’ work, and share these creations with our visitors and youth!

The Chaves Consulting team includes: Catalina Corona, Sheila Mastin, Michelle Ritch, Mary Tomlinson and Malhia Zink. They are delighted to provide this support to Crossroads, and look forward to talking with you soon! If you have questions or concerns, please call us at 523-5283. If you hear us say, “OHP Billing Office,” our telephone greeting refers to the business functions we perform. We provide billing and call center services for the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) Premium customers. Please be sure to share your preferences with our call center team, so we can meet your scheduling needs.

Volunteer Meeting to be Scheduled: Stay tuned for date & time to meet your favorite Artists!

Benefits of Membership at Crossroads: With Memberships, Crossroads gives a 10% off the NON-member (full) price of a Crossroads class. So, you will see folks bringing in these coupons as they sign up for class.

The volunteer handbook has been updated and examples of all transactions are in the handbook on the shelf behind the counter. Check it out.

Cashbox: We have a "CASHBOX" now instead of the bank bags. Note that the cashbox now contains $100 instead of the $50. The interim director will confirm that there is $100 before the day starts. You will need to balance cash on the slip located under the cash drawer at the end of your shift. Receipts go under the cash drawer.

There has been a change in the receipt procedure. White copy of the receipt goes in the cash box, pink copy goes to the customer and yellow copy stays in the book.

Bye-Bye Sandwich Board: The sandwich board will no longer be used. There are open/closed signs in the windows (on the ledge). Be sure to turn them to the correct side during your shift.

You asked for it! New, Simplified Work Shift Form: As suggested at our last meeting, the form for work shifts has been simplified. You no longer need to note the cash amount, as this is in the cash box. Record the number of visitors with a tally.

Please have visitors sign the guest book located on the counter in front of the donation box.

Daily Log: Please make notes in the Daily Log of anything that would simplify or improve how we do things. Remember to sign your name under your input. We may need to call you to clarify some of the information. Also keep the current Daily Log in front of past information; please write on one side only of the notepaper. The daily log is in the back of the volunteer handbook. All suggestions are appreciated.

Reminder Calls! Thank you for making the reminder call to the next day’s volunteer! If the person scheduled to work the next day says they cannot come, please have them call the volunteer schedulers at Chaves Consulting at 523-5823.
